Course description: 

This Philips Clinical Education VILT course for noninvasive vascular diagnostic specialists is developed to meet the climbing need to standardize performance protocols and diagnostic criteria for Doppler assessment of the abdominal venous vasculature. This comprehensive review of abdominal venous anatomy, Doppler flow profiles, scanning techniques and protocols is delivered by Leslie Scoutt, MD.

Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of abdominal systemic and portal venous anatomy as well as the normal grayscale sonographic appearance of these veins, including common congenital anomalies
  • Discuss normal Doppler flow profiles of the inferior vena cava and its major tributaries as well as the portal venous circulation
  • Discuss how to optimize scanning techniques for abdominal venous duplex Doppler ultrasound evaluation
  • Understand the recommended protocols for common abdominal venous Doppler ultrasound examinations
