Course description: 

In this 5 day, instructor-led course, the engineer will have learn about networking technologies, concepts and components. The engineer will demonstrate that understanding in constructing and effectively interacting with a controlled hospital network in the classroom environment. 

Key Topics include:

  • Introduction to Networking: Topology, Ethernet, IEEE standards, Duplex/Speed settings
  • OSI Model – Distinguishing the layers
  • Networking Devices: Hubs, Switches and Routers
  • Transmission Media (Cables and Connectors) Presentations Display
  • Functionality of TCP/IP: IPv4, Subnet Masks, Special Addressing, CIDR, NAT, DHCP, IPv6 
  • Basic characteristics of Wireless: 802.11 protocol, equipment, network setup and constraints
  • Troubleshooting with TCP-IP Utilities: IPCONFIG, PING, TRACERT, ARP, NETSTAT, NBSTAT, NSLOOKUP
