Course description: 

This one-day program provides the information necessary to acquire knowledge and skill in the sonographic assessment of the fetal heart as part of the second trimester OB ultrasound exam.This course will extensively cover the four-chamber heart and all of its intricacies. Imaging of the outflow tract views,including the 3-vessel view and the 3-vessel trachea view, will be covered in detail.

Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

  • Explain the main elements that should be evaluated during examination of the 4-chamber view
  • Explain and dicuss the normal anatomy of the fetal heart
  • Explain the sonogrpahic evaluation of the crux of the fetal heart
  • Recognize and discuss the determination of situs solitus
  • Describe normal blood flow through the fetal heart
  • Explain and discuss evaluation of the outflow tracts and great vessels
